Le Moyne Named to 2013 List of Military Friendly Schools
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College has been named to the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools, released by G.I. Jobs. The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools which are doing the most to embrace America’s veterans as students.
Criteria for making the Military Friendly Schools list includes efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, results in recruiting military and veteran students and academic accreditations.
“Having veterans as students enriches our teaching experiences and challenges us as educators,” said Pete Headd, associate director of continuing education and veteran’s program coordinator at Le Moyne. “We owe our veterans a tremendous debt of gratitude, and we are committed to providing academic, spiritual and social support in the best Jesuit tradition.”
In addition to offering benefits to student veterans, including credit for service, Le Moyne has an on-campus Veterans House and meeting center, a vet-to-vet mentoring program and specialized academic support resources, including writing tutors.
