posted on: 11/15/2013
On Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m., Renee DeVesty, a rape and domestic abuse survivor, will discuss how survivors of rape and domestic abuse empowerment take back their lives, become advocates of change, speak up to prevent these crimes from happening and assure the victims of these crimes are not alone. The talk will take place in Grewen Auditorium on the Le Moyne campus.
DeVesty, who is herself a survivor of rape and domestic abuse, is an advocate for Sexual Assault Survivors, a registered speakers bureau member of Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, and founder and executive producer of The Clean Slate Diaries. The aim of this event is to raise awareness of domestic violence and rape and how to empower survivors after these horrific crimes have occurred. Renee will be sharing her struggles she endured after her rape.
After the event, there will be a meet and greet with Renee and refreshments will be served. This event is sponsored by Le Moyne's Sociology Club.
