Anti-Coal Activist to Speak at Le Moyne College

<p>SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Anti-coal activist Ted Nace will address the tremendous environmental threat posed by the wave of proposed coal plants across the country, including those in Central New York, on Thursday, May 29, at 7 p.m. in the Reilley Room, located in Reilly Hall, at Le Moyne College. He will also highlight several factors that could lead to success for the anti-coal movement in the coming years. His talk is titled “The Swarm Versus Big Coal: Recent Victories for Ordinary People and Mother Earth.” <br /> <br /> A community organizer and entrepreneur, Nace is the director of coalSwarm, a San Francisco-based group mobilizing a national effort in support of renewable energy and environmental conservation. He is the author or co-author of four books, including “Gangs of America: The Rise of Corporate Power and the Disabling of Democracy.”<br /> <br /> This event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Center for Urban and Regional Applied Research, the Center for the Study of Environmental Change and the College Committee for Environmental Sustainability at Le Moyne College and JAM-PAC, the Jamesville citizens group opposed to the gasification plant.</p>
