Diana Abu-Jaber to Read From Her Work at Le Moyne College as Part of Women's History Month Observance

<p>SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Award-winning author Diana Abu-Jaber will read from her work on Thursday, March 29, at 5:30 p.m. in Grewen Auditorium on the Le Moyne College campus.<br /> <br /> Abu-Jaber is the author of “Crescent,” which was awarded the 2004 PEN Center USA Award for Literary Fiction and the Before Columbus Foundation's American Book Award and was named one of the twenty best novels of 2003 by The Christian Science Monitor. Her book, “Arabian Jazz,” won the 1994 Oregon Book Award and was nominated for the PEN/Faulkner Award. Abu-Jaber was named one of the “Top Women Writers of 2003” by Vanity Fair Magazine.<br /> <br /> Abu-Jaber holds a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oswego, a master’s degree in creative writing from the University of Windsor, and a doctorate in English and creative writing from SUNY Binghamton. She teaches at Portland State University and divides her time between Portland and Miami.<br /> <br /> The reading is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the gender and women’s studies program, the Center for Peace and Global Studies and the lecture committee and is part of Le Moyne’s observance of Women’s History Month.
