Harassment & Annoyance Calls

Obscene, harassing, and annoyance telephone calls are against the law. Depending upon the circumstances and the nature of such calls, certain tracing measures are available to assist Le Moyne College's Security Office and outside law enforcement agencies in determining the origin and identification of individuals making these calls. If you receive such call, it is recommended that you stay clam and hang up on the person. Try not to create a conversation or prolong the call. If the call is received through campus voice mail system, it should not be erased or transferred to another voice mail box. Notify the Le Moyne College Security Office (x4444). Calls which are of a life threatening manner or if physical threats are implied, should be brought to the immediate attention of the Security Office. Caller ID (Internal & External) information is normally displayed on multi line telephones located within most of the college's administrative offices.

Faculty, Staff, and Students who receive obscene, harassing, or annoyance calls and wish to file a complaint may do so with the Le Moyne College Security Office. The Security Office is located in the lower level of Nelligan Hall and is accessible from the rear entrance of the building. Should an incident be directed toward a Student, certain forms are required to be completed authorizing and allowing the release of student call records to the Le Moyne College Security Office or local law enforcement agency. These forms are available in the Telecommunications Office. The Telecommunications Office can not release student calls records, subject to such investigations or any information relative to the call records, to the student. Students are encouraged to discuss any details of the investigation with the Security Office or local law enforcement officials.

Any Student who commits or participates in obscene, harassment or annoyance calls may be subject to criminal prosecution and/or disciplinary measures from the college.
