Campus Telephone System


All student rooms within the residence halls are equipped with one college owned telephone. This telephone is the property of the college and shall not be removed or replaced with any other personally owned telephone device. Students on campus are encouraged to bring and use personal cellular telephones to keep in contact with family and friends. The room telephones are capable of making and receiving outside calls. Local calling within the Syracuse regional calling area is permitted without charge to the students. Long Distance calling is permitted with the use of a toll free long distance service or calling card. Upon checking into your room, the Housing Office with inform students of their room telephone number. A simplified voice mail box is also provided with each room telephone. The telephones will have a message waiting lamp to alert students of messages which have been left. Students are expected to be considerate with the use of the telephone and voice mail box among other room mates who share the room.

Any student having trouble with their telephone or telephone service may call the Technology Help Desk. Any damage to the telephone should be immediately reported to the Housing Office. Intentional damage, defacement, or unreported damage to the telephone will result in damage assessment fees being applied against students occupying the rooms. Penalties will also be assessed against students who replace or substitute the college own telephone with another personally owned telephone device.
