A native of Denver, Deette Bunn started harp studies at the age of 9. She pursued studies at Interlochen Arts Academy and the Tanglewood Institute and received her music degrees from Seattle Pacific University and the University of Washington under the tutelage of Lynne Palmer and Pamela Vokolek, respectively.

Bunn has performed with numerous orchestras throughout the United States and Canada, including the Victoria (B.C., Canada) Symphony, Thalia (Wash.) Symphony, Boise Symphony (Idaho), Boulder (Colo.) Philharmonic, Brico (Colo.) Symphony, and Rochester (Minn.) Symphony. She has held principal harp positions with the Anchorage (Alaska) Symphony, the Anchorage Opera Company, and the Jacksonville (Fla.) Symphony.

During her time in Florida, Bunn was a member of the faculty at Jacksonville University. She served as second harpist with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra for more than ten seasons, as well as serving as principal harp with the Colgate College Orchestra, Hamilton College Orchestra, Syracuse University Orchestra, Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, and the Cornell Symphony Orchestra. She is also an instructor of applied music and performance in harp at Syracuse University and maintains a private harp studio in the Syracuse area.
