Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation

Please join us for the 2020 Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation, "Facing Violence with Love and Power."

The guest speaker will be Johanna Turner, Ph.D., assistant professor of restorative justice and peacebuilding and co-director, Zehr Institute for Restorative Justice at Eastern Mennonite University.

As a Christian theologian and pastor, public intellectual and social activist, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. theorized and demonstrated love and power as necessary forces for justice – a justice that calls forth accountability and healing in the face of oppression and violence. In this lecture, we consider Dr. King’s insights on love and power as expressed in the lives of new leaders addressing racial harms from historic lynchings to daily microaggressions.

Free and open to the public. Sponsored by the offices of Student Development, Academic Affairs, and Inclusive Excellence and Global Education. For more information, call (315) 445-4591.
