Social Science Seminar Series: Can You Build a Better Cop?
Emily Owens, Ph.D., of the University of California-Irvine will address the economics of policing and related public policy issues. Dr. Owens will draw upon three of her research questions: police officers in schools; experimental evidence on supervision, training, and policing in the community, and of net economic return to proactive policing policies.. The unifying theme of her seminar will be thinking about trying to balance the protection from crime that police provide with the cost of being policed.
The Zoom link for each seminar can be found at this link.
This event is part of Le Moyne's Social Science Seminar Series, which is sponsored by the College's social science departments: anthropology, criminology and sociology; economics; political science; and psychology.
