The 27 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United State are bonded by a common mission-centered heritage. On Thursday, Feb. 19 at 4 p.m. in the Panasci Family Chapel, Michael T. Rizzi, Ph.D., director of student affairs at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medicine, will explore how Le Moyne fits into this history. Specifically, he will investigate how American Jesuit higher education grew from its original bases in Washington, St. Louis, Santa Clara, New Orleans and New York City – each associate with a different immigrant group – to spread across the country. He will highlight the ways in which Jesuit education adapted to American and how Le Moyne influenced, and was influenced by, the centuries-old Jesuit tradition.
Dr. Rizzi will also address this fundamental question: How has Jesuit education changed over time and where will it go in the future?
