In its annual financial grades released on May 22, Forbes gave Le Moyne an “A,” placing it in the top 15 percent of private not-for-profit institutions in the United States with enrollment of more than 500 students.

“We are honored to be recognized by Forbes for our financial strength and long-term stability,” said President Linda LeMura. “This ranking is a testament to the dedication of Le Moyne’s faculty, staff, trustees, alumni and supporters. It is a reflection of the College’s ongoing disciplined stewardship of resources, strategic planning and thoughtful investment in our students and campus community.”

The A grade is an improvement to Le Moyne’s previous rating, prompting Forbes to put Le Moyne on its Teacher’s Pets list, with the introduction “Defying the odds, these small private colleges have shown improved financial strength.”

The methodology used by Forbes for the rankings incorporates 10 measures, with data derived from the Department of Education’s National Center For Educational Statistics as well as from higher education analytics and consulting firm Perspective Data Science. Data points include:

  • Endowment assets per full-time equivalent student
  • Primary reserve ratio
  • Core operating margin
  • Two-year enrollment growth
  • Net tuition revenue per student
