Rancy in Inaugural Class for STEM Under 40 Awards from the MOST
Jean-Philippe “JP” Rancy ’16, MS ‘17, assistant professor of information systems, has been named to the inaugural class of the STEM Under 40 Awards, which celebrates the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering and math fields. The awards are sponsored by the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology (MOST) with support from Micron.
After obtaining his bachelors and masters at Le Moyne, Rancy received his Ph.D. in information science and technology at the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University, completing the doctoral program in 2025. His work connects human-centered research, artificial intelligence, accessibility, student mentorship and institutional innovation and his contributions include developing technology systems for awareness, governance, registration, and entrepreneurship initiatives. He was nominated for the award by Martha Grabowski, professor emeritus and former chair of the information systems program.

Earlier this year, Rancy received a Dolphin Choice Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Education and the Faculty Career Mentor Award of the Year in Business.

The MOST’s STEM Under 40 Awards recognize the contributions to STEM fields from 30 professionals under age 40 across Central New York. Honoree include individuals in a wide range of professions, including K-12 and higher education, manufacturing, healthcare, science, engineering, architecture, computer science and more. Winners will be recognized in an awards ceremony at the MOST on Thursday, Nov. 5.
These awards celebrate the accomplishments of young professionals in STEM fields and recognize the value and impact that they have on the world around them.
