Kristen’s Journey – Mental Health Through Art Exhibit

On Monday, Sept. 28 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the James Commons, there will be an event to display Kirsten’s Journey, an exhibit of paintings and drawings. Her artist’s statement is:

“My name is Kirsten Warakomski. I’ve been drawing ever since I was a child. Art is special to me because you can do it any time, Slow or really fast, while creating something new. Art helps me to get along in life, from stress relief to processing events. These series, show some of the art that I have created over the last year and a half. Each of these series are very important to my life, and my relationship with art. This relationship ranges from wellness, and enjoying myself, to expressing very deep emotions and experiences. Art has also been a part of the grief process this last year and a half. After the loss of an important family member, I found solace in thinking of them while creating pictures that represent their life and experiences. It is an honor to be here, and I hope that this series will inspire others and their relationship with art!?”

This exhibit is sponsored by the Clinical Mental Health Graduate Program.
