Professor Beth Ferro Mitchell is a cell biologist who teaches courses including Cell & Molecular Biology, Mammalian Physiology, a seminar on the Biology of Cancer, and an interdisciplinary course in Bioethics. Her research focuses on understanding eukaryotic cell motility: the mechanisms by which cells move. In particular, her lab studies the regulation of eukaryotic flagellar motility using the single-celled alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii as a model organism. In addition to her faculty position, Professor Mitchell is Interim Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences.
