Lydia Parkington received her Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst under the tutelage of cellist Astrid Schween of the Julliard Quartet. There, she also received a minor in Philosophy, concentrating on formal logic. Lydia received her Master of Music degree from Syracuse University with a focus in Chamber Music under the direction of Harumi Rhodes. She is a performer of both standard and contemporary literature in the Central New York area, where she currently resides. Lydia is a frequent guest with the Society for New Music in Syracuse as well as Syracuse's symphony orchestra, Symphoria. She has performed as a soloist with the Cape Cod Symphony and has toured extensively throughout the United States at celebrated venues such as Chicago Cultural Center and Bonnaroo Music Festival as a long time member of folk-pop band the Parkington Sisters. In her travels Lydia has performed with esteemed non-classical musicians The Dropkick Murphys and Bruce Springsteen. In her spare time, Lydia loves to cook and read comic books.
