Muhammad Ali. Tommie Smith and John Carlos. Billie Jean King. Sit-ins and marches for greater rights in the 1960s inevitably spilled into the world of sports. Athletes from those times are now seen as heroic icons, yet today’s players and others who seek to raise awareness regarding social issues are often told to “stick to sports” or risk losing employment.

Join Adnan Virk, ESPN on-air personality, as he discusses current social justice issues in sports, including:
• activism beyond social media
• personal and professional boundaries

Virk is one of the most versatile talents at ESPN. He is a primary anchor for Baseball Tonight and College Football Final and fills in with Mike & Mike, Ryen Russillo, and other programs on ESPN television and radio.

Immediately following the lecture, there will be a reception in the Corcoran Lounge on the second floor of the Campus Center.
