    Four Apostolic Preferences Released at IAJU Meeting

    President Linda LeMura and Vice President David McCallum S.J. have been meeting in Rome this week with other members of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU) executive board, task force leaders and leaders of the Society of Jesus, including Superior General Arturo Sosa S.J.

    As part of this meeting, Father General Sosa released the four apostolic preferences of the Society of Jesus, which have been approved by Pope Francis. These preferences will guide the Jesuits worldwide and their lay collaborators over the next 10 years or so.

    The four preferences are:

    1. To show the way to God through discernment and the Spiritual Exercises;

    2. To walk with the poor, the outcasts of the world, those whose dignity has been violated, in a mission of reconciliation and justice;

    3. To accompany young people in the creation of a hope-filled future;

    4. To collaborate in the care of our Common Home.

    An article from America Magazine about the preferences can be found here, with more information from the Jesuits here. Shown above are President LeMura, Father McCallum, Father General Sosa and other members of the executive board and task force.
