Le Moyne Ranked High for Value, Alumni Success in Money Magazine’s 2019 College Rankings

Money Magazine has recognized Le Moyne College for outstanding value, high academic quality, strong financial aid support, low debt and meaningful careers for its graduates in their annual rankings of colleges and universities nationwide. Le Moyne is ranked second in New York state and sixth in the nation for value in higher education for institutions that enroll between 2,500 and 10,000 students and are considered moderately selective. Le Moyne was ranked seventh among the 27 Jesuit colleges and universities in the nation.

Overall, Le Moyne ranked #178 out of a total of 744 institutions that were included in the publication’s 2019 rankings. The list considers colleges and universities with at least 500 students that have the required data available, are on good financial footing, and have a graduation rate above the median in their respective categories.

“No matter what criteria are used, it is clear that Le Moyne is a powerful economic engine with Jesuit values and a proven record of launching our students into sought-after careers and professions upon graduation,” said Le Moyne President Linda LeMura. “Our profile touted the efforts we put forth in helping students transition to college through strong support services that help with learning strategies and skills.”

Money’s analysis, led by the American Institutes for Research, weighed more than 19,000 data points among 26 different factors; these factors are equally divided into three categories: quality of education, affordability and outcomes – the essence of value.

“Because these three factors are so interrelated and crucial to families, we gave them equal weights in our ranking,” note the magazine’s editors. Money weighed unique measures they say contribute to a college’s “value added,” including a deeper dive into graduation rates based on the economic and academic profile of the student body, student loan repayment and default rates and post-graduation earnings after adjusting for the types of students admitted by each school.
