City of Syracuse Names Honorary Street “Dr. Linda LeMura Lane”

At a ceremony held on Sept. 16, an honorary street sign was unveiled to name a section of street near Le Moyne’s campus as “Dr. Linda LeMura Lane.” The sign is installed at the intersection of Salt Springs and Springfield roads, in front of the McNeil Firehouse. The sign installation follows unanimous support for a resolution by the City of Syracuse Common Council earlier in 2026. Among the dignitaries at the ceremony were Syracuse Mayor Sharon Owens and County Executive Ryan McMahon, who read a resolution declaring the day as Dr. Linda LeMura Recognition Day.

The sign recognizes Dr. LeMura’s 23 years of service to Le Moyne, including 12 years as president. In December 2025, she became the longest serving president in Le Moyne’s history. A hallmark of her time as president has been developing partnerships and strong relationships with the city of Syracuse, the Central New York region, and Salt Springs Neighborhood.  She served on the city’s Syracuse Housing Strategy Task Force that created a study for how certain neighborhoods could be revitalized, and her involvement was one factor that led to Salt Springs being chosen as one of the first neighborhoods to be selected for investment as part of the city’s comprehensive housing strategy.
