Le Moyne’s New Fitness Facility to be Named the Dwyer Center for Health and Wellness

With support from Tony ’87 and Patty Dwyer, Le Moyne will name its new fitness and wellness facility the Dwyer Center for Health and Wellness. Construction of the center is also made possible by a donation from Kathy Purcell ’66 and is part of a five-year, $50 million expansion and renovation of the Thomas J. Niland Jr. Athletic Complex.
Tony is a long-time supporter of Le Moyne and currently serves as chair of the Investment Committee of the College’s Board of Trustees. He is the CFO of Prompt Therapy Solutions, a leading national health-tech software company co-founded by his sons and family friends. He joined Prompt in June 2024 following a 37-year career on Wall Street as an analyst, market strategist and macroeconomist. At Canaccord Genuity he was a frequently sought after guest on financial news networks, including CNBC and Bloomberg. The naming of the fitness center is in honor of his mother Ellen O’Shea Dwyer who was a member of the Le Moyne class of 1958.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to enhance and make a difference in the physical, spiritual and emotional strength of the next generation of Le Moyne students,” said Tony. “In the tradition of a Jesuit education, cura personalis translates to the ‘care of the whole person’ and I am excited for the opportunity to work with Kathy and Le Moyne’s leadership to bring this practice into a real world experience for our students. Like my mother, I’m grateful to have attended Le Moyne, and this gift was inspired by her dedication to the College, and her unconditional love for friends and family.”
“I would like to express my gratitude to Tony and Patty for joining me in making this new center a reality for our beloved alma mater,” said Kathy. “With their gift honoring Tony’s wonderful mother Ellen, three generations of grateful Le Moyne alumni have come together to pay forward the gift of a Jesuit education that the College has given to each of us.”
Kathy and her late husband, John Purcell ’65 have had an enormous impact on the College’s success, including establishing the Purcell Scholars program in 2013 and a $7 million gift in 2015 that launched the Kathy and John Purcell School of Professional Studies.
“This new center will serve to benefit students, faculty, staff, alumni and the surrounding community for many years,” said Le Moyne President Linda LeMura. “On behalf of all of us at Le Moyne, I want to thank Kathy, Tony and Patty for their remarkable generosity.”
“These gifts are a testament to the strong connection our alumni have for Le Moyne,” said Jim Joseph, ’83 Ed.D. ’23, vice president for advancement and innovation and dean of the Madden College of Business and Economics. “Their lives were transformed during their time at Le Moyne and these gifts will serve to benefit generations of future students.”
