Professor Kate Costello-Sullivan to be Inducted into Irish American Hall of Fame
Kate Costello-Sullivan, Ph.D., director of Le Moyne’s Irish Studies program and professor of modern Irish literature, is among seven individuals who will be inducted into the Irish American Hall of Fame later this year. Inductees from a number of different fields are being inducted, with Costello-Sullivan honored for her long-time contributions to education.

“This was a completely unexpected honor, and it means all the more to me because I was nominated by a member of the Syracuse Irish-American community, said Costello-Sullivan. “I’m grateful for the myriad ways Le Moyne has enabled the Irish program to share the history, literature and culture of Ireland and Irish America.”
She is a former president of the American Conference for Irish Studies – the largest academic Irish organization in the world – and since 2018 has served as the (first female) series editor of the Syracuse University Press’s prestigious Irish line, the oldest line of its kind in North America.
Inductees will be honored at the Annual Irish American Hall of Fame Awards Gala on Saturday, April 25 at the Irish American Heritage Center on Chicago’s Northwest side. Now in its 14th year, the Irish American Hall of Fame is national in scope and operated under the auspices of the Irish American Heritage Center. Over 100 nominations were considered from throughout the U.S. and a rigorous screening process applied to name the final inductees.
