Samara Roya Chowdhury has been selected as the student commencement speaker for the class of 2025. A biology major with a minor in psychology, Chowdhury is originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh. She moved here in 2020 during peak COVID time and decided to stay and pursue a college degree.

During her time at Le Moyne, she has been an active member of several campus organizations, including as an E-board member of the South-Asian Student Association Club. She has worked as a Kaffe Nuvo barista, a Dolphin Den cashier and as a work study for enrollment management and in the Carroll College of Arts and Sciences dean’s office.

From making coffees and breakfast sandwiches to helping officiate events, Samara has done a lot for the Le Moyne community. During her speech, she will share how she came to understand the phrase “Dolphins swim together” and can now say “Phins Up!’” with gusto.
