Executive Leadership, Ed.D. - Admission


Le Moyne’s Ed.D. in Executive Leadership provides leadership development for professionals in the fields of education, business and healthcare or for those seeking to enter the educational arena. Our new and innovative program offers a unique learning opportunity for professionals who, as leaders, are committed to promoting a just society and serving as men and women for and with others.  

Those with expertise in administration, whether it be in public or private school settings, higher education, teacher leadership as well as those responsible for organizational growth and development in healthcare, business and other entities will grow their competencies in leadership and research. Students will work collaboratively, as a community of learners with faculty members and research mentors, to enhance their leadership skills. 

Program Overview

Program of Study:

  • 60 Credit Hour Program: The curriculum provides a rigorous sequence of leadership courses and experiences. The 60 credit hour program includes 15 credits of core courses, 9 credits of research courses, 21 credits of dissertation requirements and 15 credits of discipline specific professional leadership courses.
  • Part-time Study: The program is designed to be completed in 48 months on a part-time basis with all core, research and professional leadership courses completed at the end of 28 months. The degree must be completed in six years.
  • Required Residencies: There are four weekend residencies each fall and spring semester and three residencies each summer.
  • Size of Learning Community: 10 students
  • Program Begins: Students are admitted for, and begin the program, only in the Fall.

Admission Requirements

  • A 3.5 or higher GPA from an accredited master’s degree program.
  • At least three years working in a leadership or management position.
  • Three letters of recommendation from at least one supervisor and other letters from key leaders in the candidate’s professional arena attesting to the applicant's ability to engage successfully in doctoral level study and demonstrated ability as a leader, critical thinker, problem solver, collaborator and promoter of a just society.
  • Reflective essay on goals for enhancing leadership skills and impacting the community through education.
  • Interview, by invitation.

  • $75 application fee (waived for Le Moyne College current students and alumni)
  • Resume
  • Official degree-bearing transcripts and all additional post-master's coursework
    • Foreign transcripts need to be evaluated course-by-course by one of the member organizations of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Please visit NACES.org for a list of those participating organizations. Note that each organization will have its own instructions on how to submit required documents for evaluation.
  • International applicants who have not earned a degree from an English speaking institution must submit either a TOEFL score report showing at least a 79 or an IELTS score report showing at least a 6.5.

Deposit Deadline A non-refundable $500 deposit is due by June 1.

Classes Begin August with first residency weekend end of August.
