For Jason Luscier, Ph.D., the Le Moyne woods is not just a “fragment of forest within a sea of urbanization.” It is also an incredible teaching tool, home to a vast array of wildlife, including foxes, opossums, coyotes, racoons, deer and, of course, a number of migratory birds. An associate professor in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences, Luscier uses the woods as a lab of sorts for his students.

Chandan Jha, Ph.D., is the John K. Purcell ’65 Endowed Chair in Finance professor in the Madden College of Business and Economics at Le Moyne College. His research on corruption, particularly the link between social media and corruption, and the relationship between gender representation in national parliaments and corruption, has received media attention from all over the world. He believes that equity, fairness and inclusion are critical to the study of economics.

As child in Alabama, Theresa White, Ph.D., learned about the state and the lives of many of its most famous residents. She was especially fascinated by Helen Keller. A childhood illness left Keller without the ability to see or hear. Yet she went on to enjoy success as an author, lecturer and disability rights advocate. That revelation began for White what has been a lifelong fascination with how people process the world. It ultimately led her to study olfaction, or sense of smell.

Joining Le Moyne as a professor of practice ten years ago and becoming assistant professor of visual and performing arts in 2022, Voorhees teaches a range of classes such as theatrical costume design, costume construction, visual arts and core classes for freshmen. She is also the resident costume designer for Le Moyne’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts.

What if you could “hear” color? What if your 3D printer could create an intricately designed, and equally delicious, dessert for you to enjoy? These are only a few examples of the types of questions that Stephanie and Isaac Budmen encourage through their work at Le Moyne’s Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity.

Data can be used in a number of ways, including to innovate, to identify and solve problems, and to predict trends. Most importantly, data can be leveraged to help people make better decisions. Mehmet Kilinc, Ph.D., and Furkan Oztanriseven, Ph.D., associate professors in the Business Analytics Program in the Madden School of Business, are hoping to bring those lessons from the Heights to the Middle East through a new collaboration with Saint Joseph's University in Beirut, Lebanon.

This fall, the Everson and the Le Moyne College Department of Physician Assistant Studies (DPAS) Medical Humanities are partnering to launch a pilot program that will use interactions with art to heighten the observational and interpretive skills of PA students.
