    The Visit

Boot and Buskin at Le Moyne College will present The Visit by Friederich Durrenmatt in an adaptation by Maurice Valency.

The Visit, based originally on the Swiss play “Besuch der Alten Dame“ by Fredrich Durrenmatt tells the story of the world’s wealthiest woman as she returns to her impoverished village of her birth. This tragicomic satire explores thorny moral questions of justice and mercy with humor and wit in an expressionistic and avant garde theatrical production. The Visit has been adapted countless times as plays, ballets, and most recently, as a Broadway Musical starring Chita Rivera.

The Visit is the first production of the Boot and Buskin Laboratory Series. This Laboratory Series will pair faculty or professional directors with student designers to revisit or reinterpret a classic work or to develop a new one, ultimately with the goal of ultimately remounting the production off-campus. With smaller audiences, shorter rehearsal-time periods, and limited departmental resources, the Laboratory Series projects are designed to be more experimental in nature to encourage creative collaboration and innovative stagecraft. Founded in 1949, Boot and Buskin is the oldest theatre group on campus and is the primary vehicle for student theatrical activity. There are three mainstage faculty-directed productions each year.

The show is directed by Director of the Theatre Program Matt Chiorini, with production design by senior Brittany Schafer, lighting design by alumnus and Technical Director John Czajkowski, and stage managed by student Samantha Lee.

Tickets are now on sale at $15 for general public and $10 for seniors. Seating is limited. For additional information, please call the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts at (315) 445-4200 or visit www.lemoyne.edu/vpa.
