“I wish I had known more about things to do off-campus in the area. As a freshman I didn’t know enough about Syracuse and fun things to do.” Don’t just look at events on campus; be sure to check out the local culture as well. There are plenty of great restaurants, music venues, coffee shops and stores in Syracuse if you want to get off campus and explore for a day. Go see a band at the Westcott Theater and get some food at Rise N Shine, or grab a Nutella Latte at Recess Coffee.

Our tour guides say the best question to ask on a tour is what are the tutoring resources on campus. This is a good way to understand where help can be found and how the school approaches helping their students. A good school will have tutors who can help with all sorts of subjects. At Le Moyne, our QRC/writing center has tutors in every subject as well as academic coaches and clinic leaders, which is sort of like group studying. These options allow students to discover the best way for them to learn.

Our Phamily loves sharing the classes that have inspired them, because they get the chance to tell you how rich and diverse the academic programs are at Le Moyne: “My favorite class has been my COR 100 class with Dr. Cromley which focused on Classical Greek literature. It’s been an amazing experience to still have immense interest in the biological and chemical sciences but have a curriculum that allows me to develop interests in other fields such as classical literature.”

Ask an admission counselor about options for visiting in the spring. If overnight visits are offered, these can be really helpful for getting a true sense of student life. You’ll be placed with a current student for the night who can show you the campus, residence halls, and even take you to a campus activity–maybe ice skating on our outdoor rink in the winter, or to a live music performance on the quad in spring! This will give you a feel for the college and day-to-day life outside of an official tour or event.

The second I stepped on campus I knew this was going to be my home for the next 4 years. The people were so nice, the campus was beautiful, and the education was just what I was looking for. This was the spot that checked all the boxes and more for me. The amount of opportunities that you get with being on campus and after college are so big. There are going to be ups and downs no matter where you end up, but Le Moyne has a great support to catch you when you fall and cheer you on as you rise up. The memories I have from this campus I will cherish forever, and can’t believe how fast it goes. Just remember to be you and everything will fall into place the way it is supposed to.
