Le Moyne College Hosts Panel Discussion on the European Union Crisis
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College will host a panel discussion, “European Union: Crisis or End Game?” on Monday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. in Grewen Auditorium.
The discussion will focus on what went wrong, what can be done now, and what impact the crisis is having on other countries.
Panelists include Alek Nowak, dean of the School of Management at Warsaw University in Poland; Peter Koveos, School of Management, Syracuse University; John Patalita, division manager for Floratech; and Bernard Arogyaswamy, professor of management, Le Moyne College.
Alek Nowak is an expert on the European Union and has served as adviser to the European Commission and the Polish government. His specialty is banking and finance, and he is on the board of the Polish Central Bank. Nowak has addressed the World Bank, the IMF, and has spoken at institutions such as Columbia University and Cambridge University. He has published over a hundred articles, monographs and edited volumes.
Peter Koveos, the Kiebach Chair in International Business at Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management, is interested in exploring international financial market behavior, especially as it pertains to economic systems in transition. His current work is on the theory and practice of financial system reform. Much of his research is focused on Asia in general, and China and Shanghai in particular. Koveos is editor of the Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship, housed in the Whitman School.
John Patalita is division manager for Floratech, which builds specialized refrigeration for supermarkets. Patalita has held several management positions in Carrier's European operations, including assignments at its European headquarters in London and at a manufacturing facility near Madrid. He holds a bachelor's degree from Princeton and an MBA from the University of Rochester. He was a Rotary Foundation Graduate Fellow at the Higher School of Economic Sciences in France.
