GRAMMY Award-winning Violinist James Ehnes and Pianist Andrew Russo Reunite for Le Moyne College Performance

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … On Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m., GRAMMY Award-winning violinist James Ehnes will reunite with his former Juilliard School roommate, Syracuse-based pianist Andrew Russo, for an intimate recital in the Panasci Family Chapel on the campus of Le Moyne College.

One of the world’s most sought-after performers, Ehnes’s Syracuse engagement comes on the heels of a solo performance with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and will be quickly followed by an appearance with the London Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Valery Gergiev, in New York’s Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center.

“I’m looking forward to reuniting with Andy for a fantastic recital in Syracuse,” says Ehnes. The recital will feature Bach’s Partita in D minor for solo violin, Prokofiev’s Sonata No. 2 in D major, and Paul Schoenfield’s Four Souvenirs, which Ehnes also recorded with Russo for Black Box Records in 2007.

Ehnes boasts a discography of more than 25 recordings, including his 2008 GRAMMY Award-winning recording of the violin concertos of Korngold, Walton and Barber with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

Though pianist Andrew Russo’s career his evolved over time (he currently owns an investment advisory firm in Syracuse), Ehnes says that he continues to impress. “I’m constantly amazed by Andy’s artistry,” said Ehnes. “The fact that his piano playing continues to be flawless, while he’s working extremely hard in his new career, is nothing short of incredible.”

Don’t miss the former college roommates as they perform in Syracuse, part of the Le Moyne College Music Program’s annual season of guest artists. Tickets are $20 for the general public, $15 for seniors, and $5 for students and Le Moyne faculty/staff. Visit
