Madden School Names John Hunter Director of Financial Technology

John Hunter has been named director of financial technology in the Madden School of Business at Le Moyne, where his responsibilities will include leadership and operational direction of the trading room and associated technologies, as well as development of investment center curriculum and support of student development activities.

“We are so pleased to welcome John Hunter to the faculty of the Madden School of Business,” said David McCallum, S.J., interim dean of the school. “John’s breadth of international experience in the financial services industry, and his alignment with the philosophy and principles of Jesuit education will contribute greatly to our students, the Madden School and Le Moyne College as a whole.”

Hunter has over 13 years experience in the financial services industry, where he worked for UBS and Morgan Stanley. In addition, he brings over 18 years of international management experience, having served as the senior manager for Carrier in the United Arab Emirates, as an economic development advisor to the government of Dubai and as a senior management consultant working with a wide range of internationally based corporations. He served as president of the American Business Council in Dubai and vice-chairman of the Dubai Business Group. Hunter holds a master’s degree in business administration from Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management.

Launched in April 2012, the Madden School of Business at Le Moyne is named in honor of Michael Madden ’71, who provided a founding gift of $7 million, the second-largest single gift in College history. The Madden School is comprised of three centers of excellence – Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity; Global Business; and Leadership and Business Ethics – that complement Le Moyne’s core values while providing the essential resources for Le Moyne’s business students to become leaders for the 21st century. The school will be located in a fully renovated and reconfigured Mitchell Hall, one of Le Moyne’s most historic buildings; renovation work on Mitchell Hall is expected to begin in 2013.

Once fully funded following the completion of the current capital campaign, the Madden School will feature endowed professorships in accounting, business analytics, information systems and marketing. There will also be additional funding to support undergraduate and graduate scholarship to help ensure access for all students.
