SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College will plant and bless a serviceberry tree on Friday, June 6, at 9 a.m. in honor of Monsignor Joseph M. Champlin, founder of the Guardian Angel Society. The ceremony will take place in front of Grewen Hall, next to the statue of Kateri Tekakwitha, the first American Indian saint.
A similar tree will be planted at 10:30 a.m., in a reflection area at Cathedral Academy at Pompei (CAP). Le Moyne College community members, the Rev. Louis Sogliuzzo, S.J., director of campus ministry at Le Moyne, the Rev. Paul Angelicchio, pastor at Our Lady of Pompei, and CAP students and educators will participate in these events. The purpose of the ceremonies is to formalize connections between the two educational institutions.
