Le Moyne College Hosts Panel Discussion as Part of National Library Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College’s Noreen Reale Falcone Library announces a panel discussion on leadership and national elections titled “Who Should Lead Us/U.S.?” to be held in the Falcone Library Special Activities Room at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18. The event is free and open to the public as part of National Library Week activities. It is co-sponsored by the Political Science Academy, Le Moyne Democrats and Le Moyne Republicans. Refreshments will be served.

Local author and Le Moyne alumna Judith LaManna Rivette, Dan Maffei, former Congressional candidate, and Le Moyne College student representatives will serve as panelists to discuss the question of what we look for in national leaders. Event chairperson, librarian Inga H. Barnello, cited local author Judith LaManna Rivette’s most recent book, “Chasing Hillary,” as the initial idea that prompted the evening forum. Rivette is the Falcone Library’s guest on National Library Day this year and will be available for a book talk and book signing in the Library from 3:30 – 5 p.m. before the
7 p.m. evening panel event.

“The panel discussion idea grew out of my conversation with Judith about her book,” commented event chair Inga Barnello. “We’ll explore the broader issues of leadership qualities and whether generational aspects come into play in why we choose who we vote for—even whether certain generations make for better leaders.”

“In light of the upcoming 2008 presidential election and how it is already up and running, this is actually good timing for an event on this topic,” said John Doyle, president of the student organization Le Moyne Democrats.

For more information, contact Inga Barnello, 445-4326.
