Jian Cui holds an MFA in New Media from Penn State University, a master’s in computer art from Savannah College of Art and Design, and a bachelor’s degree in sculpture from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China. His sculptures are seen as landmarks in China, and his drawings, watercolors and Chinese paintings have appeared in several books. Jian Cui currently teaches at the State University of New York, College at Oneonta.

His work deals with the internal and external conflicts between an individual and the environment. In his artist statement he says, “I am interested in integrating traditional 2D, 3D arts with contemporary digital media. I see ‘new’ media as a smooth continuation of traditional media.”
