Le Moyne College Hosts Talk on Women of Faith and the Business of Health Care

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College will host a talk by Margaret H. Preston on Thursday, March 19, at 4:30 p.m. in Grewen Auditorium. Her talk is titled “Women of Faith and the Business of Health Care” and will explore how Irish nuns established a Catholic hospital system on America’s Northern Plains.

Margaret H. Preston, an associate professor of history at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D, is a social and economic historian who also focuses on issues of gender in modern Ireland, Britain and India. Her work will also be of interest to those interested in Catholic studies and Irish studies.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Sanzone Center for Catholic Studies and Theological Reflection, the history department and the Irish minor program. For more information, call 445-4215.
