Wilson Art Gallery Hosts Exhibit of Sculpture and Painting
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … An exhibit of new work by Barry Darling and Charlie Wollowitz will be on display in the Wilson Art Gallery of the Noreen Reale Falcone Library at Le Moyne College. The exhibit, “On and Off the Wall,” opens on Mon., Sept. 14, and will run through Fri., Oct. 9, and can be seen during regular library hours (Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m.; Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday from noon until 2 a.m.).
An opening reception will be held in the Wilson Art Gallery on Fri., Sept. 18, from 5 – 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Although the two artists, both of Le Moyne’s visual and performing arts department, have been friends and worked alongside each other for the past 40 years, this will mark the first time they have shown their work together.
Darling's primary medium is painting, and his works are included in numerous private and corporate collections. He earned his master’s degree from Louisiana University and his bachelor’s degree from Utica College of Syracuse University. His teaching experience includes 28 years as director of the art department at Henninger High School in Syracuse, N.Y. His work has been shown throughout the U.S., from Syracuse to Santa Fe, N.M.
Wollowitz taught printmaking at Le Moyne from 1971 until 2002, and returned earlier this year to teach sculpture, which has become his primary artistic medium. He has earned degrees from Syracuse University and has taught locally for many years.
