Le Moyne Hosts Talk on Cavell and Speech

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College will host a talk by Ed Mooney on philosopher Stanley Cavell on Thursday, March 4, at 5:30 p.m. in the Reilley Room, located in Reilly Hall. His talk is titled “Cavell and Passionate Speech in Dark Woods of a Life.”

Stanley Cavell explores passionate speech by looking at words that are prophetic, wondrous, transformative and redeeming. We’re inspired and changed by passionate speech. Ed Mooney, from the philosophy and religion departments at Le Moyne College and Syracuse University, will pursue Cavell’s writing across literature, religion and philosophy as he tracks words that light our way through dark times.
This event is free and open to the public and is part of the Cavelleria Siracusa series of events taking place this year at Le Moyne focusing on the work of Stanley Cavell. It is sponsored by the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Religious Studies. The Cavelleria Siracusa series is supported by a generous grant from the J. P. Watson Fund.
