Le Moyne College Hosts Talk on Edith Wharton
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne will host a talk by Emily Orlando of Fairfield University on writer Edith Wharton on Monday, March 22, at 5:30 p.m. in the Reilley Room, located in Reilly Hall.posted on: 3/2/2010
Orlando’s talk is titled “Intertextual Wharton: Houses of Life, Houses of Mirth,” and is free and open to the public.
Orlando, a visiting assistant professor of English at Fairfield University, is the author of “Edith Wharton and the Visual Arts” (2007), which was recognized by Choice Magazine as an “Outstanding Academic Title” in 2008. In addition, she has authored essays on literature and visual culture that have appeared in “American Literary Realism” and “New Voices on the Harlem Renaissance: Essays on Race, Gender, and Literary Discourse.” An abbreviated version of her chapter on “The House of Mirth” appears in “Memorial Boxes and Guarded Interiors: Edith Wharton and Material Culture,” edited by Gary Totten.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Saint Anselm College and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Maryland.
