Cam's Pizzeria Selected by Le Moyne as Final Plaza Vendor
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Following a review of several vendors, Cam's Pizzeria, a family-owned chain that operates more than a dozen restaurants across upstate New York, has been selected as the pizzeria for Le Moyne College’s Plaza project. posted on: 4/22/2010
Cam’s opened its first pizzeria in Geneva in 1980, and has since added locations throughout Rochester, the North Country, and Central New York, including locations in Camillus, Mexico and Oswego. The Le Moyne location will be Cam’s 15th.
“We're very excited about Cam's joining the Le Moyne family, and look forward to what they will bring to the campus and surrounding community,” said Roger Stackpoole, Le Moyne’s vice president for finance and administration. “We were impressed with not only the quality and variety of their menu, but also with the overwhelming interest they had in being part of this project.”
According to Cam's owner Tony Calascibetta, he was interested in the Plaza location even before it was purchased by Le Moyne.
“When I initially inquired, I was told the property was going to be acquired and they weren’t sure what the plans were going to be for the new owners,” said Calascibetta, who owns the chain with his brother (and chain namesake) Cam. “I had been looking for a location on the east side of Syracuse and this will be ideal. I’m very excited about the improvements that will be made to the Plaza and introducing Cam’s to the area.”
Calascibetta said delivery will be available at the Le Moyne location. Cam’s menu will feature traditional and specialty pizzas, wings, appetizers such as fried ravioli and breadsticks, sandwiches, and salads. Dough is made fresh every day and hand stretched for New York style authenticity. Hours of operation have not yet been determined.
Located adjacent to the Le Moyne campus at 1135 Salt Springs Road, the Plaza will receive a complete interior and exterior renovation, with work expected to be completed this summer. In addition to Cam’s Pizzeria, the Plaza will house the College bookstore, operated by Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, and a Dunkin’ Donuts café. The property will have space to accommodate over 90 people in a comfortable setting featuring a fireplace and a variety of seating options. Le Moyne has also purchased a portion of Audubon Parkway from the city of Syracuse and will abandon the street and turn it into green space, with outdoor seating available during the warmer weather.
