Le Moyne College’s Michael Carboine Earns Elite 88 Award
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College sophomore Michael Carboine from Homer, N.Y., claimed the inaugural Elite 88 Award in Division II men’s lacrosse announced May 28 at the pre-championship banquet hosted by the NCAA. Carboine is the second Le Moyne student-athlete to receive this award this year following Dan St. Jacques (men’s soccer) this fall.posted on: 6/1/2010
Carboine boasts a grade point average of 3.887 majoring in biology. On the field, he is a member of a defensive unit ranked third in the nation in goals against average (5.85). This spring, Carboine was named a Le Moyne College Scholar-Athlete.
Beginning with the 2009-10 championships season, the NCAA has instituted an academic recognition award program, which is titled the Elite 88. The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average competing at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 88 championships.
