Le Moyne College’s Michael Carboine Earns Elite 88 Award

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College sophomore Michael Carboine from Homer, N.Y., claimed the inaugural Elite 88 Award in Division II men’s lacrosse announced May 28 at the pre-championship banquet hosted by the NCAA. Carboine is the second Le Moyne student-athlete to receive this award this year following Dan St. Jacques (men’s soccer) this fall.

Carboine boasts a grade point average of 3.887 majoring in biology. On the field, he is a member of a defensive unit ranked third in the nation in goals against average (5.85). This spring, Carboine was named a Le Moyne College Scholar-Athlete.
Beginning with the 2009-10 championships season, the NCAA has instituted an academic recognition award program, which is titled the Elite 88. The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average competing at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 88 championships.

The Le Moyne College men’s lacrosse team appeared in their fifth consecutive national championship game on Sunday, May 30, when they faced C.W. Post. Click here for more information on the NCAA Elite 88 Award.
