Why Visual Arts at Le Moyne College?

Students from all majors are encouraged to enroll in the Visual Arts minor in order to discover the many benefits of a rich visual aesthetics education within the liberal arts environment and Jesuit tradition. Instruction from accomplished and engaging faculty includes both studio and classroom experiences, designed to promote critical thinking, personal creativity, and intellectual development. The interdisciplinary focus of the Visual Arts program encourages collaborative endeavors with theatre arts, music, and the community at large.

The Visual Arts program at Le Moyne College offers a variety of courses in diverse disciplines, including sculpture, ceramics, drawing, illustration, art history, as well as black and white, color and studio photography. These courses intend to enrich the liberal arts education of all students, from all majors and disciplines, with the belief that every individual has something creatively unique to offer. The courses encourage students to explore and develop their personal creativity, and ultimately to take pride and pleasure in their artistic achievements. Students have numerous opportunities to exhibit their work, including the annual Student Art Show at the Wilson Art Gallery and various exhibitions in the Performing Arts Center gallery. Other opportunities include membership in the Art Club and internships in the Visual Arts program.
