Accelerated Dual Degree Partnership in Nursing (A-DDPN)

This 18-month program is specifically designed for candidates with a bachelor’s (BA or BS) degree in another field who are looking for a fast-track path to pursuing a career as a registered nurse. The A-DDPN program of study awards both an associate degree from St. Joseph’s College of Nursing (STJCON) and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Le Moyne College. Students attend classes and clinical rotations Friday afternoons through Sunday, and one evening a week, at St. Joseph’s. Simultaneously, students attend BS-level nursing classes during the week at Le Moyne. Earning the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree from St. Joseph’s College of Nursing allows students to qualify for the NCLEX-RN® examination (National Council Licensure Examination)* and professional Registered Nursing (RN) licensure. With extensive clinical experience and a cohesive education from two distinguished institutions, students graduate the A-DDPN program with increased job placement opportunities and the skills necessary to launch a successful and fulfilling career in nursing.

Students who are a part of the A-DDPN option divide their classroom time between St. Joseph’s College of Nursing and Le Moyne College, located just three miles apart in Syracuse, NY. Both Colleges were founded in the Catholic tradition to prepare students for service and leadership and are nationally recognized for their academic excellence in nursing education.

Enrolled students will be jointly advised to ensure they stay on track and take advantage of all resources on both campuses. After completion of one term, students are eligible to apply and become employed as a Student Nurse Assistant. This flexible per diem position provides students with an opportunity to build confidence in a variety of clinical settings at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Additionally, A-DDPN students can take advantage of all cultural, recreational and any other student activities offered at Le Moyne College.
