Upping the Stakes in Jesuit Showdown as Le Moyne Takes on Regis in D-II Lax Semifinal

In addition to a trip to the women's lacrosse D-II championship game, Friday's national semifinal between Le Moyne College and Regis University will have something else on the line.

Jesuit bragging rights... and a few items for which Central New York and Central Colorado are famous.

The game, which will be played at 3 p.m. on May 18 at the University of Tampa, features two Jesuit institutions, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by the presidents of each school - John Fitzgibbons, S.J. at Regis and Linda LeMura at Le Moyne.

So to make the game a bit more interesting, they have upped the stakes by placing a friendly wager on the outcome.

If they lose, Le Moyne will send Regis a selection of Finger Lake wines, an assortment of sauces from Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and the region's famous salt potatoes. If they lose, Regis will send Le Moyne a case of either Avery Brewing’s “The Reverend” Belgian-style quadruple ale or a case of Coors beer, lager, ale, cider or sparkling hard water, a dozen huge and juicy Palisade Peaches, and a RePurpose BowTie, handcrafted from recycled fabric.

In addition, the president of the team that loses will have to wear gear from the other institution at the next Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities president's meeting.

As both teams prepare for the game, it should be noted that in March at a neutral site, Le Moyne bested Regis 17 to 11.

More information on the game, and a link to watch it live, can be found here.
