Happening in and around the College.

Summer, Fall Classes and Planning for the Future - Message from President LeMura

    To the Le Moyne Community,

The past several weeks have been a testament to the strength of the College community. As we enter the final weeks of the semester with finals approaching, I want to again express gratitude to everyone who has enabled our transition to distance learning, especially our faculty and students and our IT colleagues. I’m also deeply grateful to our colleagues in enrollment management who have reengineered their business model, moving seamlessly from in-person events such as receptions, breakfasts and one-on-one interviews to virtual experiences during these critical weeks. As evidenced by the success of this past Saturday's Accepted Student Day 2.0, even on a virtual platform, prospective students and their parents understand just how special a Le Moyne experience will be. I was able participate in the event and to spend some time with our future Phins and their families from my living room.

Our work is now focused on the future. A group of individuals from every campus division has been meeting regularly to determine several possible scenarios for our response to the pandemic and how it will impact our summer and fall academic calendar, campus events and activities (including first-year welcome), residence life, and the eventual return of employees to campus. This planning is challenging given the many uncertainties surrounding COVID-19, but I am confident we are developing solid plans for each scenario that will ensure the continuation of academic excellence and the vibrant student experience that are hallmarks of a Le Moyne education.

For May-mester and our three summer sessions, we have decided to hold all classes in an on-line format. In line with our traditional summer offerings, our faculty are working to prepare a rich and diverse array of courses for each of these sessions. We have also cancelled all on-campus activities -- including sports and academic camps, weddings, conferences and other events - through July 31.

Our intention for the fall semester is to return to a more normal academic and student experience. Our actions will continue to follow guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As it becomes clearer what a return will look like, we will communicate with all College constituencies.

I promise that we will do everything we can to weather this storm, meet the challenges still to come, and emerge a stronger and more close-knit Le Moyne family.

Please stay safe and healthy, and may God bless you and your families.

    Sincerely,
    Linda M. LeMura, Ph.D.
    President
