Internships

We encourage our students to take advantage of the opportunity to complete an internship. An internship is a great way to get hands on experience, integrate theory with practice, and explore career options.  Students who take an internship have found that the experience enhances their application for graduate study and prepares them for employment in the psychology field.

Field Experience in Psychology

PSY 490-491 (Field Experience in Psychology) is an experiential course taken for two consecutive semesters for a total of 6 credits. Students spend 8 hours each week on site at their internship and meet in class one hour per week.

Mark and Michele Vinciquerra, Directors of the Psychology Internship Program, and by Dr. Theresa White, Psychology Department Chair, must approve all internships.

Who Can Participate?

Junior or senior level psychology majors can enroll in the PSY 490-491. The requirements are simple - students must:

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Attend a mandatory information meeting in the spring semester
  • Complete an application
