Mickey Lebowitz MD FACE EQAC, PC, CC, a board certified endocrinologist, grew up in Brooklyn NY (you can tell from his accent) before moving to eastern Long Island. Dr. Lebowitz went to SUNY Oswego graduating in 1981 (Magna Cum Laude, Student Athlete of the Year and assist leader for game and a season playing for the basketball team). He did all his medical training, from medical school (Cum Laude/Alpha Omega Alpha/ Stuart Gurman Award for Living and Learning), internship, residency, chief residency (Bill Schiess Award for dedication and commitment to the practice of medicine) and endocrine fellowship at Upstate Medical University. He then practiced endocrinology for 17 years and was on the “Best Doctors in America” list annually. After leaving private practice he wrote a book entitled, “Losing My Patience: Why I Left the Practice of Medicine” (which is still available on Afterwards, he served at the Syracuse VA Hospital as an academic hospitalist teaching fellows, residents and medical students (awarded the Resident Teaching Award). He was then recruited to Crouse Hospital as the Senior Medical Quality Director with the goal of making the hospital more efficient, effective and safer (Excellence in Healthcare Award for rap video, HAC NO). During his time as a Quality Director he also practiced as an endocrine hospitalist, was champion of the diabetes program and developed workshops to teach physician leadership, wellness and burnout avoidance. He was honored with the Community Service award from the Onondaga County Medical Society for his work on wellness and burnout. After 7 years as a Quality Director Dr. Lebowitz became the Chief Medical Officer at MAS, a Non-Emergency Medicaid Transportation Company, continued as an endocrine hospitalist and leader of the diabetes program and became the Medical Director of Le Moyne PA program where he was given the NYSSPA Physician Advocate of the year award in 2020. Over the last few years Dr. Lebowitz has achieved multiple certifications in Emotional Intelligence becoming a practitioner, assessor and a certified coach with the International Coaching Federation.

Over the years Dr. Lebowitz has given multiple keynote addresses and numerous presentations and workshops on multiple endocrine conditions including diabetes, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, osteoporosis and endocrine causes of hypertension. He has also given multiple presentations and workshops on emotional intelligence (EQ) including EQ and patient experience, racism and recognizing and overcoming biases. He also works with individuals and groups to enhance their EQ, leadership, team and organization skills. Lastly, Dr. Lebowitz has several published endocrine related articles and is currently pursuing research in EQ looking at the relationship between EQ and success in the LMC PA program. He is CITI certified.

Dr. Lebowitz is most proud of his family. He is married to the love of his life since 1982, has 2 fabulous children and 2 amazing grandchildren. He has given time and dedication to his community serving as the President of the Syracuse Hebrew Day School and his synagogue CBS-CS. He organized and led the Council of Jewish Organization and served as the Jewish Ambassador for the Jewish Community, was a Board of Trustees member for the Syracuse Jewish Federation and Syracuse University Hillel Board of Governors. He coached many of his children’s sports teams during their formative years. For fun Dr. Lebowitz likes to write raps and songs, wrote a screenplay and TV show pitches and even did a week of standup comedy at the San Francisco College of Comedy.
