The requirements for admission to the MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling program are listed below. There is no fee to apply and we encourage applications from students with diverse academic and professional backgrounds. Admission is open to students with a bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, or related fields. Those candidates with unrelated bachelor’s degrees are eligible, but their transcripts will be evaluated and certain prerequisites will be a requirement for admission.
Admission Deadline (Fall 2024 start)*: Final Application Deadline - May 1, 2024
*Applications are considered after these dates on a rolling basis until the program is at capacity.
Official transcripts from all previous colleges will be required for admission consideration. Competitive applicants will hold a 3.2 GPA or higher from their bachelors degree (preferably in human services, psychology, counseling or related field as described above).
Successful completion of select prerequisite courses is required prior to the program start. This includes a minimum of 3-credit hours each in: introductory psychology, introductory counseling, abnormal psychology, and research methods.
Three recommendations (professional or academic) attesting to the applicant’s academic potential and ability to successfully engage in graduate level study in mental health counseling are required. References can be from academic advisors, professors, supervisors, or licensed mental health counselors.

The online application will prompt you to submit an essay addressing the following professional fit statement objectives.
This statement should be approximately 1,500 words in length.
The MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is not currently accepting applications from international applicants who require a student visa.
