    Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation

The renowned American feminist and anti-racism activist Peggy McIntosh will give the keynote speech at Le Moyne’s 2016 Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation.

Having taught English, American Studies, and Women's Studies at the Brearley School, Harvard University, Trinity College (Washington, D.C.), Durham University (England), and Wellesley College, Dr. McIntosh is the founder of the National SEED Project on Inclusive Curriculum (Seeking Educational Equity & Diversity). She currently directs the Gender, Race, and Inclusive Education Project at the Wellsley Center for Women. Among other works, McIntosh is the author of “The Invisible Knapsack,” a short but incisive analysis of white privilege.

The event will also feature student performances from Fermata Nowhere (Le Moyne's acapella group) and solo singing performances from two students. Winners will also be announced for an essay contest from students at several local Syracuse schools.
